Our Vision

To make NOSSI Digital Library a national and international reference for accessing, preserving, and promoting Cameroonian knowledge.

Our Mission

To centralize and make sustainably and securely accessible academic productions, in order to support research, teaching, and innovation.

What does "NOSSI" mean?

An Acronym

NOSSI stands for New Open System for Scientific Intelligence — an initiative dedicated to the preservation, popularization, and sharing of scientific knowledge through open, collaborative, and sustainable practices.

A Tribute

NOSSI is also the name of Madame NOSSI Jeanne, a Cameroonian woman of extraordinary resilience. After enduring devastating losses, she rose with courage to become a mother to many, a beacon of wisdom and refuge in her community.

Why This Name for a Digital Library?

Just as Madame NOSSI Jeanne gathered, protected, and transmitted life, this digital library is dedicated to gathering, protecting, and transmitting the knowledge produced every year by Cameroon's universities and researchers. The name reminds us that knowledge is precious, sometimes fragile, and must be preserved for future generations.

Why NOSSI Matters

Every year, Cameroonian universities and intellectuals produce a significant quantity of research. Yet these productions remain scattered, uncatalogued, and at risk of being lost.

Insufficient Cataloguing

Intellectual productions are not sufficiently digitized and made accessible to the public.

Scattered Documents

Documents are dispersed across institutions in heterogeneous formats.

Risk of Loss

Physical archives and the knowledge they contain are vulnerable to permanent loss.

Access Barriers

Remote access to academic and scientific productions remains difficult.

Knowledge Discontinuity

Difficulty finding related previous works hampers the construction of collective knowledge.

Redundant Research

Without visibility into existing work, intellectual productions are often repeated.
